My breeding pugs are of European champion lines and out of champion or grand champion parent(s). It's no secret that many of the healthiest and most attractive dogs in the world are born and raised in Europe, and so I brought these beautiful lines to America from wonderful breeders with ethics the same/similar as my own. My program works with and produces pugs that meet the AKC and FCI breed standard which means I work with fawn and black pugs. Run from any program who is intentionally producing off-standard colors & conformation. One of my primary values includes improving/maintaining breathing health. Breathing ability is based ONLY on the soft palate and the nares. It has nothing to do with muzzle length. I also advocate for natural whelp.
No kennel here! Pugs don't belong in a facility resembling your local dog pound. My adult dogs and puppies are kept inside my home with everyday play/stimulation as well as plenty of outdoor potty breaks and weather-permitting outdoor playtime. My pugs stay in a huge indoor "dog-room" when not playing outside.
My program leans holistic with limited and carefully considered vaccinations/medications. My adult dogs and puppies are kept on high-quality food which is heavily supplemented with home cooking. My puppies are reared with socialization, litter box training (teaches puppies to hold themselves until they're in the right place), and plenty of mental stimulation.
Quality puppies are not cheap! So much time, money, and work goes into raising healthy puppies including acquiring/raising/caring for their parents. You will not find a well bred purebred pug/pug-puppy at a shelter, but for those who want a cheap dog, seeking one from a local shelter/rescue would be suggested. It's wonderful to give a shelter dog a new life. Although shelter/rescue pets are low cost and need homes, note that you should be prepared for much higher probability of medical bills (both short and long term) which can well exceed the cost of a quality puppy from a good breeder.
